Objective
Design, delivery and Project Management of fly ash injection to suppress goaf fire. This involved 8 x powder tankers delivering ash and pumping underground using compressed nitrogen gas.
Scope
GEM personnel managed this project, including plant ‘intro to site’, safe work procedures, risk management and onsite management of all flyash injection.
Result
The oxidation event was controlled by a combination of Tomlinson boilers, nitrogen injection and flyash entombment, and the mine was quickly reopened.
